When my grandsons first decided they
wanted to learn something about what
I was doing online it was because they

not boring they answered in unison that

concert. It was Trombone Shorty and his
New Orleans jazz band and the event was
a fundraiser for the Rotary International
Foundation to “End Polio Now”.

So how did Shorty melt my heart? Almost
at the end of the evening, when we felt
like he and his group couldn’t “WOW” us

an arrangement of “Hallelujah” to honor
musician Leonard Cohen, who passed away
on Thursday.

The audience went silent as the trumpets
and trombones whispered the melody and
Shorty sang the words as they have never
been sung before. It was magical and a
night I will never forget. I sure didn’t
get invited to this kind of thing while
