On what would have been Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.s 89th birthday, we celebrate and
honor a man for whom I have the greatest
respect and admiration.

The first year we observed this day as a
holiday was also my first year teaching in
the classroom. I had 5th and 6th graders
that year and became acutely aware of what
this man did for all of my students. I was
teaching in the inner city of Los Angeles
and my students faced challenges that I had
been previously unaware of in my world.

When I came online I also became a public
speaker, and no matter who you study from
or which books you read on this topic, most
everyone agrees that Dr. King remains one
of the great orators of all time, speaking
eloquently and reiterating his message in

Hi Online-Marketing,

During 2017 I made the conscious decision
to change my life and my business in 2018.
I wanted to do things differently and get
out of the rut I felt I was in. This was to
include going to new events, or ones I had
not attended in years, connecting with new
people or reconnecting with those I hadn’t
spent time with in years, and even changing
my twice annual live event and workshop to
a new theme.

One of these changes was in regards to the
Santa Barbara Film Festival. That was what
first brought me to Santa Barbara way back
in 1986, and I have attended most years to
enjoy my favorite past time. I decided last
summer to go to the Sundance Film Festival
instead, and that will be next week in Park
City, Utah. And because of the recent fires
and resulting mudslides in Santa Barbara,
it looks like that festival may not happen
in two weeks.

It’s interesting how life can change in such
a sudden way and makes me want to enjoy each
moment as a part of my life experience.

One thing I have not changed is my commitment
to writing each day. I write for an hour as
many mornings as possible, averaging five in
any given week. This has opened opportunities
for me to be recognized as an authority in my
niche, to speak at venues all over the world,
and to build a body of work that will leave a
legacy when I am gone.

Currently I’m writing my sixteenth book and
outlining the one after that, both of which
will be published this year.

Hi Online-Marketing,

I don’t know about you, but my life is
filled with a variety of people, places,
things, and ideas that can make my brain
feel like it’s going to explode at times.
I’m super productive and find that turning
off my brain isn’t easy to do.

When this happens I take a day – a full
24 hours – to get back on track. Today
is that day for me, the first since some
time back in October and I’ll be writing
and reflecting on where I’m going next.

What if you took a day of reflection once
a month to step back and think about what
you truly want your online business to look
like?

I recommend that you do just that, and also
that you use the day to go through what you
have already purchased and may not have yet
gone through and implemented.

Yes, I’m suggesting that you not make any

Hi Online-Marketing,

I was fortunate early on to connect with mentors
on the internet. The lessons they shared with me
were vast, and the one that stuck was the idea
that we must build a business that’s both scalable
and sustainable if we don’t want to end up with an
online version of a demanding job.

Hi Online-Marketing,

The rains have subsided here in southern
California, but the impact of the storm,
with the flooding and mudslides will be
felt for some time and remembered forever.
We’ve now lost fifteen people and stories
from this disaster are heartbreaking.

The one that continues to bring tears to
my eyes is the story of a baby pulled from
four feet of mud and debris, still alive and
most likely an orphan now. My neighbors were
on the news sharing this story last night.

I’ll be able to get back to my home Friday,
and my contribution will be many boxes of
clothing I’ve put together to give to those
who have lost everything. And once again I
will be taking in a family who has nowhere
to go by inviting them to stay with me in my
Santa Clarita home, about 80 miles away.

Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and

Hi Online-Marketing,

Today was one of those days. I didn’t get
much accomplished because I was focusing
on the flooding and mudslides up in Santa
Barbara. I’m 120 km away in my other city,
Santa Clarita and it was heartbreaking to
see the death toll rise to 13 within these
past 48 hours. Prayers appreciated.

My home has extensive damage in the back
and my yard completely washed away. Always
the optimist, I noted that I wouldn’t have
to mow the lawn any more because it’s gone.
Once again a reminder that it’s the people
and animals that are important, and not the
material things that can be replaced.

It’s also on days like this that I appreciate
affiliate marketing and the income we can
earn while we are taking care of other things
in our lives.
