conference room at my real estate office

were all in shock. I’d been following the

Hi Online-Marketing,

I often feel that I am the luckiest person on
planet Earth, but is it really luck?

In my business world, I am surrounded by awe
inspiring people who continue to help me grow
as an entrepreneur. I have colleagues, clients,
students, and joint venture partners I am so
honored to know, mentors who guide me to what
is best for my personal goals, and people in
my community who hit reply just to tell me how
much what I do online means to them.

What I’m describing here isn’t luck. Instead,
it’s the definition of luck…where preparation
meets opportunity. I continue to prepare myself
each day for the opportunities that will avail
themselves to me.

The smartest thing I did when I began in 2006
was to start blogging. My writing left much to
be desired, I wasn’t sure what I could write
about, and I lacked clarity with my goals. If
I didn’t know where I wanted to go as an online
entrepreneur, how could I write for others?

I moved past the doubt, the fear, the feelings
of inadequacy, and just started writing. Soon
I had found my voice, clarified my message, and
begun enrolling my tribe, all with a simple
little blog that people read and resonated with.

Now I have two blogs and have grown them into
what we refer to as “authority sites” that are
read across the planet by those who want and
need information, guidance, and more on the topics
around entrepreneurship and personal development.
And I have grown right along with my readers.

Hi Online-Marketing,

I’m paraphrasing the last two lines of Robert
Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” with my subject
line today. And the road less traveled refers
to the journey of building an authority site
and blogging regularly.

Early on I made the choice to write regularly,
post to a blog, and publish articles on various
sites as a way to build and grow a sustainable
and scalable business, and it set me apart from
almost everyone else who got started around the
same time as I did.

These days people are kicking themselves for not
building an authority site and I want you to be

or at least the way that ensures you earn income

Today I’ve arrived back in Santa Barbara after
not being able to for almost a month. My home
