Hi Online-Marketing,

On Friday night someone wrote on
my Facebook page that I did not
care about what happened to the
children in Connecticut because
I had not posted my feelings there.

This morning I received an unkind
email from someone who could not
believe I did not mention it in
my email, and that it must mean
that I care more about making money
than I do about people’s lives.

Nothing could be further from the
truth. Sometimes people care so
deeply they are unable to find the
words to express their pain and
sorrow. Those in the public eye
are sometimes judged more harshly
when we do not respond, but we are
human, too.

Hi Online-Marketing,

Last night I was at a Board meeting
for one of the charities I’m involved
with here in Santa Clarita. Having
just returned from London, I was so
tired I could hardly keep my eyes
open.

Just then I received a text message
from Wil Mattos telling me that his
business partner, Jason Fladlien,
had arrived in town for their end of
the year meeting. Wil wanted to know
if I could join them for a strategy
session.

Suddenly I came alive! My meeting
was ending, and I drove over to meet
Jason and Will for the next several
hours. We talked about many things,
including a course the three of us
will be teaching in the spring.

This is an example of storytelling,
and the power it has to engage your
