Hi Online-Marketing,

Today we celebrate Labor Day in the United States
and also in Canada (Labour Day). This honors the
American labor movement and the contributions that
workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws,
and well-being of the country. For all of the twenty
years I worked as a classroom teacher and also in
real estate, I worked on Labor Day and resented it.
Now I work on Labor Day and feel blessed to be doing
it by choice. It’s all in how you look at things in
life that makes the difference.

This weekend I’ve been playing in Santa Barbara for
most of the days and only working for an hour or so
first thing in the morning and another hour late in
the evening. This suits the lifestyle I have created
for myself.

How about you? If there is a significant gap between
where you are right now and where you would like to
be in terms of lifestyle (location where you live,
income, time to do the things you love), how wide is
that gap?

Writing an hour or two each day, along with creating
online courses and digital products around the topic
of your book is an excellent way to turn your daily
life into a lifestyle of your design. I did it twelve
years ago when I left the workforce and you can, too.

Hi Online-Marketing,

One of my family members needed a new vehicle,
so yesterday we ventured into Los Angeles to
visit the car dealership where I worked over
a summer in 1983. Now this is an example of
trading many long hours for just average pay.
I wanted to give them all copies of my books,
but the idea of entrepreneurship and having
your own business is not for everyone. After
some hard negotiations we were able to drive
away with the new car and head home in the
holiday traffic. I used my time negotiating
the best deal possible as material for a new
course I’ll be creating called Really Simple
Sales Skills. It will teach life imitating art
in this case.

My most recent book is called “Kids and Money:
Teaching Financial Responsibility and Values
to Children.” It is based on my experiences
and opinions in this area and I have already
been approached locally in both of the cities
I call home to speak and write on this topic.

This is just one example Ellen Finkelstein and
I will be sharing in our upcoming Master Class

Hi Online-Marketing,

After almost a week in Atlanta with family, friends, and a live
event I am finally back in California. I arrived home at four this
morning after something occurred on my flight I’d like to share.

It was late and the lights were turned off in the cabin. I was
listening to music and thinking about the events of the past week
when a lady walked down the aisle closest to me. Suddenly she
clutched her arm, her eyes rolled back in her head and she went
into what we would find out later was cardiac arrest. At that moment
she hit the floor hard. She was out cold.

Two people were closer to her than I was, yet neither of them
made a move. One man even turned his head away, and I took this to
mean he did not want to get involved. If you know anything about me
then you know I always see the importance of getting involved and
serving others in need.

I leapt up out of my seat and called for help. I was loud. I was
clear in my message that we needed immediate medical assistance in
row 12. I was consistent until this help arrived.

It took a couple of minutes and finally an off duty flight attendant
got on the intercom and notified the cockpit and the other attendants.
They moved in a fluid motion with the defibrillator, oxygen tanks,
and other supplies. A nurse practitioner appeared from the back of
the plane and I guided him over to the aisle where the woman remained
unconscious on the floor. He diligently worked on her while the flight
was diverted to Phoenix for landing and had her sitting upright and
sipping orange juice when the paramedics came aboard. Two hours later
we were on our way to Los Angeles and tragedy had been averted.

Are you someone who gets involved? When time is of the essence are you
able to be loud, clear, and consistent to get your message out to those
who most need to hear it? As an human being and an entrepreneur we are
in the unique position to help others every day, whether or not it is a
life or death event. Observing humans helping other humans is a joyous
experience.

Something to think about, for sure.

Hi Online-Marketing,

Happy Thursday and Welcome! If You’re New Here…

Yesterday I promised to share with you the four
things I do in my business each day. Even though
an online business has many moving parts and
requires many tasks and activities to keep it
running like a well oiled machine, you must only
do what you enjoy and are good at doing.

For me, these four are:

1) writing – I write email messages, blog posts,
articles for syndication, short reports, books
(both compilations/anthologies and full length
books on my primary topics), and writing related
to my products and courses.

2) sharing – this is the marketing piece, and I
now have this down to a fine art, where almost
everything I say and do helps to spread the word
about who I am and what I have to offer to people
around the world who will benefit.

3) creating – I’m now more right-brained than at
any time in my previous life and love to create
new products, courses, and programs to help others
achieve their goals.

4) mentoring – being able to work closely with a
small group of people each day in my mentor program
allows for accelerated growth and progress. This
is truly God’s hand guiding me to help others. My
mentees are my extended family and know how I feel.

How does everything else get done? It’s done by
people much smarter and more talented than myself.
Without them my business would not be possible
and I am humbled and grateful to have them in my
life.

So those are the four things I do each day in my own
business. It takes me about four hours to accomplish
my goals and then I am finished for the day. Tomorrow
I’ll tell you more about the work I do in each of my
cities where I live to be a positive force in the
community.

Hi Online-Marketing,

The year before I came online I started a goal
setting and achieving program that changed my
life. In fact, if I hadn’t begun this practice
back in 2005 I dare say that I would not be an
author, online entrepreneur, and info product
creator now. Instead, I might still be figuring
out what I wanted to do with my life and not
seeing the opportunities that are right in front
of all of us every single day.

In the beginning I set goals that were small; I
wanted to make sure I could achieve them so it
would feel like success. Then my confidence grew
and with it the size and type of my goals. For
example, in 2006 I set a goal of writing a two
hundred fifty word article each day. The next
step was to write a book based on my blog posts
within four months. These days my goal is to
write a thirty to forty thousand word book in
about six weeks and build a funnel around it to
earn income before the book hits the shelves.

Setting goals that increase in intensity and then
doing what it takes to achieve them helps you to
set and achieve goals you never thought possible
for yourself. They take on a life of their own
and you find yourself moving towards success in
a way that makes you feel almost super human.

In 2007 I created and sold my first information
product. It had taken me a full year to create
this first one, and six weeks later I had the next
one ready to sell. This was before PLR (private
label rights) content was available, save for a
few of the pioneers like my friend Jimmy D Brown.
