I had fun with finding my cat’s pirate name, which
translates to Purrst Mate Fluffbucket Blunderpuss. I’m
thinking she’ll be happy to be called “Maggie” again.

In other news, several people wrote to me to ask why

was telling him about one of my clients who felt he wasn’t

The views from my home offices (I live in two cities)

Hi Online-Marketing,

Storytelling is the most powerful marketing tool
you will ever use. It is also the fastest way to
building a lucrative online business where you
are respected and recognized as a leader in your
field.

People learn about you from you sharing your story.
No one has dropped out of the sky to come online,
so we must all explain where we came from and what
we are doing now. This is called your “origin” story.

I was a classroom teacher for twenty years, while
also working in real estate simultaneously. After a
serious work injury and surviving cancer twice I
made the decision to leave the work force and come
online.

My first year was a struggle, but I was determined
and finally replaced my previous income after a year
and a half. I learned that having a small list was
not a reason to earn small income, and became known
as the “huge profits with a tiny list” entrepreneur.

Hi Online-Marketing,

I’m not talking about setting up websites, installing
membership site software, or creating web graphics.

You will achieve your goals much more quickly when you
learn how to do your own customer service.

My first year online several people advised me to let
others handle this for me, but I had a feeling it would
be a good idea to learn how to deal with people and to
address their questions and problems head on.

Even now, twelve years later and when my business is at
a point I never imagined it could reach I still do most
of my own client care. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a
weekend, holiday, or after “normal” business hours.

Perhaps I’ve helped you in some way since you’ve been a
part of my online community, by answering a question or
helping you with a log in or password for one of my sites.

I wanted a global business where I could serve others in
a way that would help them to achieve their goals and to
change their lives and this is one part of how I do it.

Hi Online-Marketing,

I’m a bit of a collector and I also can’t pass on
a great deal, so when Whole Foods Market offered
their very best bar soaps I rearranged my schedule
to get there early.

Now this wasn’t just any soap, this was Allafia
full size bars of triple milled shea butter from
the wooded savanna of Central Africa.

So I carefully chose twenty-two bars of assorted
scents and proceeded to the checkout to buy them
for one dollar each by scanning my Amazon Prime
app at the register.

There are so many lessons here that will help you
and I to become better at sales and marketing for
our own businesses. I’ll turn this into a blog
post later on, but for now I want you to become an
observer of how you and others make a decision to
buy or not buy something, whether it’s digital or
physical and regardless of the price.
