Now, back to the horses…

I have now flown the Los Angeles to
Amsterdam route more than forty times
over the years, and almost every time
we have horses in the back of the plane.
Not in the cargo area with the luggage,
but actually behind the last row of
seats.

This time we had 15 dressage horses
aboard, and I loved hearing them and
even sneaking a peek when one of the
trainers went in to feed or care for
them during our ten hour flight. Dressage
is a competitive equestrian sport, and
I’ve also been on flights with groups of
thoroughbred race horses over the years.
This is quite interesting, don’t you agree?

Spending a month each year in Europe is
like an ongoing math lesson for me. Having
to constantly convert between liters and
kilometers, as well as between Celsius and
