Hi Online-Marketing, Last night I met in person with my Mastermind group, and we all shared what we had been working on for the past few days. After setting up my new business with a DBA (doing business as) and filing it with the County Clerk I then went to the bank to open a new account. Many of you had questions about this process when I mentioned it yesterday. I’ll write a blog post about this in greater detail, but for now I’ll explain it like this: If you start a business that has your name, such as ‘Mary Smith Bakery’, you do not need to file a fictitious name form. If, on the other hand you start a business like ‘Hunter’s Moon Publishing’, then you do. If someone pays me by check or credit card, the bank needs to know who owns the company. Does this make sense? The next step these days is to set up a one page website so that people are able to know a little more about the business and what I’m doing. This builds trust, the foundation for every relationship. We use WordPress for this, and what I set up only takes me about fifteen minutes or so. You need to know just enough about this to install it on your hosting account, add the plugins you’ll need, and add some content. You need to do this for every business you have, unless you’re using your own name. I also recommend that you purchase a domain for each business. The next step each time for me is to then set up a one page website so that people who buy through me are able to know a little more about me and what I’m doing. Hi Online-Marketing, This past weekend I took a three day trip to San Luis Obispo, a city by the beach just two hours north of Santa Barbara. When I planned this trip a few months ago my intention was to drive there on a Friday, go to some meetings for the Rotary conference being held there, and to then drive back on Saturday afternoon. That all changed after I went through Dennis Becker’s new program on how to ‘unlock the creator’ in yourself. The results were incredible, in my honest opinion, but you can judge for yourself. connieLoves.me/UnlockIt Over the three days I was away (I added a day once I saw how much I was getting done) this is what I did: * Took the train instead of driving, making it a relaxing ride along the Pacific Ocean instead of a stressful drive on the freeway * Outlined a new book I will start writing this week * Attended two meetings at the conference that will also help me in my business * Went on a five hour wine tasting tour of the gorgeous Edna Valley region * Made notes on some of the projects my Platinum Mastermind students are working on to help them achieve their goals more easily * Created an entire presentation on affiliate marketing I will use when I speak in Austin at Joe Vitale’s event in two weeks * Hiked for three hours through the mountains overlooking the ocean with several friends from the Rotary group * Made notes and jotted down my ideas for a physical product I will start selling on Amazon next week * Stayed with my new healthy eating habits without feeling hungry or deprived * Attended the formal dinner and closing ceremony for the Rotary conference * Danced and sang along with a Beatles tribute band and enjoyed the sounds of a jazz band * Wrote a two page handwritten letter to a friend who will be away for several months This is more than I typically do in a month! I started going though this material last Thursday, and by Friday I was on a train to San Luis Obispo, with almost no plans, no hotel room reservation, and no car. Hi Online-Marketing, Everyone in my neighborhood was gathered around and pointing up in the sky last night at the gorgeous full moon. But it was not really full, as that will be coming this evening at 7:37 pm EDT. It’s called a Hunter’s Moon, which is the first full moon in October every autumn. There’s even a ‘Feast of the Hunter’s Moon’ held each year in Indiana, and it’s interesting to know that all full moons rise around sunset each month. Speaking of Hunter’s Moon, that’s the special project I’ve been working on with Geoff Hoff for the past several months.
