Hi Online-Marketing, Today is my day off. I’m still in Spokane, Washington but today I have no plans with my Mastermind group. So, what do I do on my day off? I’m a morning person, so I got up around 7:30 and checked my email. I have students on three continents who are working on various projects and I want to answer any questions they have before I do anything else. Next, I wrote a new blog post about doing what it takes to be able to live the Internet lifestyle. All of this took me about an hour and a half, and I am thrilled to spend this time, even on my day off. Now I’m headed out to explore Spokane further and to enjoy a city I haven’t visited in about 20 years. I found it quite interesting in the Mastermind group that four of the 12 members are either already involved in selling on Amazon or will be adding this to their streams of income this month. Hi Online-Marketing, I’m really enjoying my time here in Spokane, Washington. Spring has arrived, and yesterday I spent time with friend and colleague Steve Sponseller, an expert in innovation strategies for business. We had lunch at the Flying Goat before going back downtown to the historic Davenport Hotel where I’m staying. Today Steve and I and several others meet with my long time friend and mentor Ray Edwards for a business strategy Mastermind roundtable. We will be discussing many of the top business models that are working well today, including Amazon FBA private labeling that I and many others are doing successfully. Hi Online-Marketing, At least once a week I receive a small brown box on my doorstep. It’s from Amazon and may include any of a number of items I order through them. At the first of the year I began selling my own products there, using the private label model to choose ones that would sell well without me having to touch them or mail them myself. The results continue to amaze me. Two weeks ago I began selling items that I buy and ship myself, and this has been quite fun. My best sellers are Honey Nut Cheerios cereal, Nature Valley granola bars, and scrumptious coconut macaroons from Manischewitz. Hi Online-Marketing, Tomorrow I’ll be heading out to a Mastermind with one of my long- time mentors. We meet in person about once each year and connect on the phone and via webinars the remainder of the time. My adventure this time will take me to a city I have not visited in more than a score (that’s 20 years) and to a historic hotel that boasts being the first one to offer central air conditioning and where Crab Louie originated. I’ve spoken at the historic Tremont hotel in Baltimore and the US Grant in San Diego, so I look forward to presenting at this location. Be the first to tell me which city I’ll be going to and win a special gift. Last night some friends from Santa Clarita came up to Santa Barbara to celebrate Spring Break with their two teenaged daughters. You may have seen our decadent dessert on my Facebook page. I asked my friend if she ever buys anything online and she tells me only if it’s from Amazon.com. I said that I am now selling physical products on Amazon and explain a few of the products that are selling well for me. So here’s my friend, Krissy, sharing that she buys from Amazon every week, as I and millions of others do, and how she finally understands what my business is all about. She’ll never relate to digital products, but ship it in a small brown box and she’s in. If you can relate to this kind of thinking then you may want to know more. Hi Online-Marketing, Last night I spent several hours negotiating the deal on my new car. Because I own a business I lease a different car every few years, but this time felt different. I believe it’s because I chose a vehicle this time that takes me out of my comfort zone in a big way – an SUV. There were two reasons for this: I host Retreats in Santa Barbara several times a year and need to be able to carry five or six people comfortably. My family is visiting from Finland this summer and we’ve got plans to see everything we can during their almost month long visit. Doing something to bring joy to the special people in my life – students and extended family – makes me feel good, and I am willing to do whatever I can to make it all go smoothly. What are willing to do to move your business forward, even if it will take you out of your comfort zone? Another thing I’ve done is to start selling physical products on Amazon over the past four months. I had never done this before and had to adjust to what was required to make sales every day. My biggest concern was in finding the suppliers for the items I wanted to sell. I was sure this was going to be difficult, and was pleasantly surprised to find that my training course made it a very simple process.
