Hi Online-Marketing, I often teach that you can only grow your business and change your life by taking action and ‘skinning your knees’ in the process. It wasn’t until I did just that – skinned my knees – yesterday that I realized why so many of us hesitate to take the appropriate actions on a regular basis. It hurts! We were at a local water park and I went into the deep end of the ‘wave pool’ when a big wave slammed me down to the bottom. I came up gasping for air, feeling the pain from scraping both of my knees hard on the bottom, and thinking about the info I want to share with you just as soon as possible after my family returns to Finland. Hi Online-Marketing, You may know that my family from Finland is visiting me in the U.S. all month long. We painstakingly planned each day so that everyone, from age five to adult would have activities and experiences that they would remember and enjoy. We sure didn’t plan the trip to the emergency room yesterday. All of a sudden my son-in-law became very ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. We all gathered there to see what the doctors would say and it was a scary ordeal for everyone. I am happy to report that he is back home with us again and feeling much better. Hi Online-Marketing, I’ve made a name for myself in the online business mentoring space by taking my clients way out of their comfort zone and then pulling them back by empowering them to do what they have forgotten they were so capable of all along. Yesterday I did this with Susanna, my family member visiting us from Finland all month. She is in the United States for the very first time and is considering moving to California on a more permanent basis. Last evening I told her I needed to do some work and asked if she would please make dinner so I’d be able to do what I needed to do. There were twelve of us for dinner. She agreed, looked through the fridge and the pantry, and put together a meal fit for kings. I knew she was capable of such a feat, and now she knows this as well. She’s out of her comfort zone here in the States, yet she felt quite comfortable being in the kitchen at my house. Hi Online-Marketing, The question came swiftly from my six year old grandson, Samuel and was directed right at me. ‘What do you mean they have July 4th all over the world?’ Samuel lives in Finland, so I chose my words carefully. ‘There is a fourth day of July all over the world, but in the United States it’s a national holiday.’ Then he gave me ‘the look’. It’s the look a child gives an adult when they have used language to make a point. ‘And what’s so special about it?’ Then I gave him the lecture about independence, and what it means for me and how it all came together so that I can spend time with him and his sisters every single summer and why he and I have the chance to build our relationship on a very regular basis. I saved the part about all of my hopes and dreams for him and why he will have opportunities that are based on freedom and independence for another day. ‘May I have another hot dog?’ He’s one smart boy, and I am blessed to have him in my life. Hi Online-Marketing, When you live alone or with one other person a loaf of bread can last for days. Sometimes it even goes bad before you can eat it all. But when you have seven or eight people at your house, as I do while my family is visiting from Finland this month, that is not the case.
