Hi Online-Marketing, This morning I’m helping out at the Elk’s Lodge, where I’ve been a member for almost ten years now. Labor Day is dedicated to the veterans here and the cooking started early. It’s “all you can eat” tri-tip, corn on the cob, and many other fixin’s, and they even have a fife and drum corp to entertain all of us. We’re expecting two hundred today, about a third of them veterans. If you’re not in the U.S., know that this holiday is an interesting one. It is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers, and this is according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Interesting. After many years in the work force I now celebrate over ten years as an entrepreneur. Having an online business puts you in an enviable position. Hi Online-Marketing, This week was a busy one for me with many opportunities to socialize with people in Santa Barbara. Last night I attended a dinner party with the most interesting people. One is a local wine maker, another an equine oral surgeon, and yet another a chemist (not the “Breaking Bad” kind of chemist; the kind who helps wine makers get just the right blend of grapes, yeast, and other ingredients). And one is the CEO of one of the largest semi-conductor manufacturers in the world, developing new technology for us to use in the future. And when they asked me what I do for a living I hesitated before answering… I help people on six continents to build a business they can run from home, or from wherever they happen to be. There was a moment of silence before they descended on me to find out more. Because even though what they do is exciting, pays extremely well, and is something they do have a passion for, they still don’t have the type of freedom you get from having a home-based business. One person will be transferred to the Midwest before the end of the year. Another has to fight governmental restrictions on what she is doing each day to help animals, and yet another suffered a loss of over forty percent of profits in the last twelve months due to increased labor costs and overseas competition. And the wine maker has worked at a loss for two of the past five years due to the drought. Having an online business puts you in an enviable position. We don’t have any of the problems my other dinner companions deal with regularly. In comparison, our challenges are tiny and easily solved. And we don’t need rain or politicians to ensure our success. Hi Online-Marketing, Today marks the beginning of the Labor Day holiday weekend in the States, as well as the unofficial end of summer, even though that’s still three weeks away. Long ago women didn’t wear white clothes or shoes after Labor Day, but that tradition has almost disappeared in most of this country. As for me, this weekend will be one where I’ll do some work and enjoy some time with friends and family, kind of like I do every weekend. But the food may be better because of the holiday. Hi Online-Marketing, I honestly don’t like it when programs I know you will benefit from only open for a week, but that strategy seems to motivate more people to take action and see the results quickly. Hi Online-Marketing, As a classroom teacher I was supposed to teach the same lesson to thirty-five or more students, because the administration said that “one size fits all”. This was never true and applies to membership sites as well. I have two programs, my Platinum Mastermind and my Online Marketing Incubator, where people pay monthly or annually for as long as they are members. In addition to those, I have more than a dozen membership sites where people pay once and belong for two years. I also have one membership where people paid monthly for several years and then I gave them the option to pay a lump sum amount for five years additional membership. That one will be finished in 2017 and hopefully those people will come aboard another one of my membership programs. What I am saying is that many options is the best strategy for your membership site. And what if you feel like you don’t have anything to offer people on a monthly or annual basis? Hogwash! Insanity!
