Hi Online-Marketing, This morning I worked for almost six hours, which is about twice as much as is typical for me. The reason is that I’m finishing up the course materials and sales page for a product I will release Saturday. Hi Online-Marketing, How is your Sunday going along so far? Excellent, I hope. I just returned from a visit with my friend who has sustained a serious injury when his crane – he was grading the side of a hill in order to build something on his property – got too close to the edge and it flipped over on top of him. The orthopedist was just finishing up when I arrived and she believes they will be able to save his leg. This is a man who’s never broken a bone and has only had his tonsils removed when it comes to this kind of medical attention. When I told him that my community was holding positive thoughts for his full recovery he waved me off right away. He doesn’t believe in prayer. Please keep up whatever you’re doing, because it seems to be working. Hi Online-Marketing, This morning I received word that a good friend of mine has had an accident. He was operating heavy equipment on his property when he got too close to the edge and it flipped over on top of him, shattering his leg below the knee. He had to be airlifted to the hospital where I saw him today. I will spare you the gory details of his condition, but suffice it to say his life will never be quite the same. While I was visiting with him and his wife today it was he who brought up my business. “I think I finally understand why you feel so strongly about people having their own businesses. I can’t even imagine what this would be like for my wife and kids if I had a job.” We went on to talk about this and I think it helped ease his pain, at least for a bit. Even though his kids are now all over eighteen, they are still dependent on him for college tuition and more. His wife hasn’t worked since they had their first child twenty-three years ago and she helps him run their construction consulting business. She also is a caregiver for an older sister and her mother. When I came home a few minutes ago I opened Amanda Craven’s course I have been telling you about. Hi Online-Marketing, You may be new to my community, or not so new but have forgotten my story of how I began earning income back in 2006. Please bear with me as I recount the details. I had found out that everyday people were making money on the internet and this was intriguing to me. By November of 2005 I had purchased some audio recordings that explained how to sell information products from two or three page websites. You could also sell other people’s products and earn affiliate income. Blogging about the topics was the way to drive targeted traffic to these sites and make sales. By January of 2006 I had a dozen niche blogs set up and was promoting affiliate products on each of them. I couldn’t think of any ideas for my own product at that point so everything was an affiliate offering. In April of 2006 I made my first sale! I earned an affiliate commission of $21.60 from the sale of an affiliate product on dog training that sold for $37. Yes, I was beside myself with excitement. No, this was not going to replace my income and give me the financial freedom I was craving. Also, I had already incurred expenses for domains, hosting, products, and courses along the way. That summer I hired a mentor to guide me. He explained that if this was to be a profitable business and not just a hobby I would have to make that commitment to myself and do the work. Within weeks I was earning more and more affiliate commission and by November (one year after getting started) I had created my first product. It is rare to earn income during your first several months. These days it is much simpler because of PLR (private label rights) content and people like me who love to mentor and teach the strategies that work. One reason I recommend so much PLR is that this is still the fastest and easiest way to create your own products. My most recent one this past week was created in about three hours using the simple formula I share regularly on my customer appreciation webinars. Hi Online-Marketing, I had great job security as a classroom teacher, and I think that’s what frightened me the most as the years wore on. I maintained a kind of discipline and complacency that kept me in place and too fearful to move on. With time came illness and injury and that kept me at the mercy of administrators and a school district that cared little about me as an individual. As an entrepreneur we have lots of risk and incredible rewards. The working conditions adapt to our chosen lifestyle and the economy can ebb and flow without it affecting our income or our circumstances. It’s a powerful position to be in each day. If you can relate to anything I am sharing here then you most definitely have what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur. I have a friend who worked twenty-eight years for a company, stayed with them as they relocated twice and doubled her commute time, only to be downsized and finally let go when a new partner wanted to bring his niece aboard. She wasn’t quite at retirement age and tried unsuccessfully to land a new position before she gave up and applied for early social security.
