Hi Online-Marketing, Last night we gave the Sir David Attenborough Award to the Cousteau Family – Jean-Michel, Celine, and Fabien. They live here in Santa Barbara, and I know them from when they come to our Rotary meeting to share the latest on their films and the Society that Jacques Cousteau founded back in the 1940s. We saw the world premiere of their latest documentary film, ‘Secret Ocean’ in 3D. It was amazing to see the most delicate tapestry brought gently to life from the ocean floor. There were 400 pound clams that live a hundred years, and giant squid, as well as the microscopic plankton that represent the bottom of the food chain. Celine Cousteau shared her vision of life as being filled with ‘the hope and faith that everything we do be part of a better life for others on our planet’. Hi Online-Marketing, This morning I’ve already seen two films, with two more tonight in my plans. That’s part of the joy of being at a film festival that runs about eighteen hours each day. One this morning was a Polish comedy, and the other a drama set in Iceland. I love the cultural diversity! You may have heard that GoDaddy CEO Blake Irving has pulled their Super Bowl commercial after animal lovers everywhere went after him for its message. Basically it was about a dog being sold online, through a site from GoDaddy, and delivered the next day. We must think long and hard about the impact of our message when we are doing business online. Hi Online-Marketing, The storm crisis has been averted, according to Dennis Becker and others who live in the northeast part of the U.S. Now the discussion has turned to what we have in place in our businesses in case of an emergency or natural disaster. Hi Online-Marketing, Thirty years ago I called in sick to my job, grabbed a friend, and drove almost a hundred miles to a sleepy little town on the beach where there was to be a weekend film festival. The town was Santa Barbara, the film festival now spans two weeks, and this year I am one of the sponsors. Time sure does fly when you’re living the life you love. Once I accepted the fact that working for someone else would never make me happy, my life was suddenly filled with opportunities for change. There is a quote from 13th Century poet Rumi that fits here… ‘You have a longing in your heart and it awaits the kindling. The moment you accept what troubles you’ve been given, the door will open.’ Once I began my online business all of my troubles began to fall away and be replaced with joyful circumstances that opened my heart to what could be possible in my life. Then I wrote my first of now eleven books, and the financial goals that had previously eluded me became part of my reality.
