New to My Community? Welcome!
Yesterday, as I rang the Salvation Army bell
alongside friends, fellow Rotarians, and the
people I know and respect in my community, I
had the opportunity to spend time with one of
my mentors.
Jim’s a venture capitalist who has mentored me
in my business during these past five years.
He asked me why I think my business has been so
successful during this time, and what I planned
on doing in 2018 to continue this upward trend.
We were standing side by side in front of a busy
department store during this conversation and I
had to stop ringing my bell to think. Finally, my
answer to him was that no matter what, I always
had faith that what I was doing was truly helping
others and that everything I did not understand
or know how to do I could either learn or could
be accomplished by others on my behalf.
Jim wanted examples. These were what I shared:
* I wasn’t a writer when I started my online
business in 2006. I began writing every day and
have now written and published fifteen books. My
writing has improved, but I focus more on what
I am sharing with readers than how well I write.
* Technology was a struggle, so I outsourced
that work to others who do it well.
* Graphics was a challenge, so others continue
to do this for me as well.
* I realized marketing was crucial to success in
any business, and vowed to make an ongoing study
of this topic. This pays off every single day.
This philosophy has earned me millions of dollars
during the past decade. It may seem like a simple
one, but that is my motto – keep it simple. I want
you to do the same for yourself.
