Hi Online-Marketing,
One of my mentees asked me what she should
wear to my live event in Los Angeles next
week. My answer was to wear business attire
because our appearance can make or break
our image with new colleagues. I then
realized she was talking about the weather
and if she needed to bring a raincoat.
But I think the matter of what to wear
when you meet people at a live event is
an important one.
When I first started attending events I
wore my stretchy pants and colorful tops.
It was obvious that I was not one of the
speakers or on any of the panels. Then I
was asked to speak and I went shopping
with a friend to choose some clothes that
would make me seem more professional.
Everything changed for me then, and now
I make sure to look professional every
single day when I am with colleagues at
a live event. And this can be achieved
without spending a small fortune to do so.
What are your thoughts on this matter?
