I honestly thought I would not
live long enough to see this ever
happen again…
You may know that I have a deep
love and connection with the
world of horse racing. Growing
up in California and then in
Florida, thoroughbred racing
has always been a part of my
life. Year after year my heart
has been broken when no horse
has been able to win the Triple
Crown since Affirmed did so in
1978. I was living in New York
at that time and was there in
the stands the day he won.
Yesterday, after a disappointing
thirty-seven year wait, American
Pharoah won the third leg of the
Triple Crown at Belmont Stakes in
New York. I’m still celebrating!
You may wonder why I’m sharing
this story with you today. It’s
because this race is an excellent
example of why we must persevere
and never, ever give up on our
dreams.
